HealthCare Plus was established in 1988 as a retail pharmacy inside a grocery store in Polson, Montana. The founder and president, Vickee Siemers, is a pharmacist with a keen interest in helping the healthcare consumer achieve the best possible health outcome with a value-added service. The retail pharmacy was immediately licensed to provide home intravenous drug infusion services to compliment the growing home health industry. This service grew into providing enteral feeding, home medical equipment, medical supplies, and oxygen services. With the hiring of an extremly qualified respiratory care provider as manager of oxygen services in 2004, sleep apnea treatment services were added, serving CPAP and BiPAP patients throughout Western Montana.

HealthCare Plus opened a second location in 1991 in Hamilton, Montana, where these same services along with an expanded over-the counter section have lead to the distinction of being an industry leader in customer satisfaction. A new Hamilton store was built in 2003 and features the convenience of a drive-up window for the pharmacy customer and an espresso bar.  A third location was added in 2005 when HealthCare Plus purchased the long established Seeley Lake Pharmacy in Seeley Lake, Montana.

In keeping with a key element of the mission statement of the company, "to improve the health of our communities," HealthCare Plus built a corporate office and medical supply store on Main Street in Polson. All 4 locations provide health screenings such as cholesterol checks, hemoglobin A1C levels, blood pressure checks, and flu vaccinations. All locations house the Diabetes Shoppe, which features sugar free foods, educational materials, and footwear covered under Medicare.  All locations offer compounded prescription drug services via the Hamilton certified compounding center and have sponsored educational seminars for women and men to update them on bio-identical hormone therapy options.

HealthCare Plus provides free billing services for all of it's customers, billing Medicare, Medicaid, secondary insurance, and offers personal charge accounts. There are no upfront charges to senior customers, allowing them to maximize their limited income dollars.

In 2006 HealthCare Plus opened a "closed door" pharmacy for the purpose of serving Long Term Care and assisted living home residents.  Three styles of unit dose packaging are available to consumers to improve compliance to difficult drug regimens and allow for accountability in a group residence setting.. This pharmacy focuses on packaging and medication therapy management only.  There is no walk in clientèle.  The savings achieved by accessing "closed door" contracts with the drug manufacturers is passed on to the assisted living home resident, offering a safe and cost effective solution to the home's pharmacy service.
